Coronavirus Update:

Hi everyone! I hope everyone is safe and healthy in Australia as well as the international community.

As of May 8th 2020. I have new updates and plans from the government to reopen Australia.

Step 1. With regard to weddings, a total of 10 guests are now allowed to attend, with the addition of the couple and the celebrant, this equates to 13 people.

For couples looking to get married in a religious setting/venue. These gatherings can have up to 10 attendees, including the couple and celebrant (total of 10 only).

In regards to receptions, large receptions (i.e. more than 10 people) will be unlikely due to the closure of entertainment and amusement venues, as well as the current restricted limit of people. Small receptions can still be held in restaurants or cafes and may seat up to 10 people at one time. They must maintain an physical distancing rules with an average density of 4 square metres per person.

Also, every event must record the contact details for those in attendance so they can be contacted in the case of another outbreak (touchwood!). So when you're going through your guest list, be sure to have the contact details; email, mobile number, and even perhaps an idea of how much of the event they'll be attending i.e. will they be only attending the wedding ceremony or will they be attending the whole entire event. Every bit of detail counts in helping our health services to help reduce the spread COVID-19.

As advised by the government it is crucial that everyone abides by the physical distancing guidelines.

Step 2. Depending on how well things go with step 1, this will occur on a later date.

This outline will be similar to step 1, where it focuses on allowing larger gatherings and allowing other businesses to reopen.

Weddings will allow up to 20 attendees, in addition to the couple and celebrant (23 people). Restaurants will be able to seat up to 20 people at a time, whilst following physical distancing rules. Other entertainment and amusement venues will also be open, including cinemas, galleries, stadiums, concert venues and zoos will be able to open and hold a maximum of 20 people.

Again, maintain physical distancing rules and record the contact details of all attendees.

Step 3. Again, depending on how things go and how things are progressing based on stages 1 and 2.

This stage is a commitment to reopening of businesses and the community with minimal restrictions, whilst underpinning 'COVIDSafe' ways of living.

This will allow larger events to go ahead while following COVID Safe guidelines.

Weddings will allow gatherings of 100 people and again contact details must be recorded.

Cinemas, galleries, stadiums, concert venues and zoos will allow 100 patrons at one time, and again adhering to the average density of one person per 4 square metres. So, venues with more than 400 square metres will be able to fit 100 people. Smaller venues with less than 400 square metres can only allow less than 100 people.

This is what I believe is important at this point in time. But if you'd like more information check out www.covdisafe.gov.au for more details.

As of March 25th 2020, due to the situation of the coronavirus (COVID19) epidemic, the current restrictions in Australia are to reduce weddings to 5 people. This includes you and your partner, the celebrant and two witnesses. We as photographers can double up as witnesses as well.

As a result of these new rules and regulations it would be very ideal for couples to either:

  • Postpone your wedding to a later date in 2020 or even 2021, especially those with a large guest list.
  • Elope and marry at an intimate ceremony at home or somewhere locally following the current restrictions and regulations (5 people max). Between you and me, I think elopements are just as magical and special in their own way.
  • Or another way to go about is to go ahead with your special day, try to reduce it to a tiny guest list and use video conferencing services like Zoom, Skype or FaceTime, so those that are absent can still be involved, while of course keeping to the current restrictions, regulations (5 people max) and social distancing.

If you've already paid a deposit, ask your vendors if that deposit can be transferred or be used as credit to reschedule your special day to a different date. And if you're already planning on a wedding for 2021, act quickly and accordingly as you may miss out on securing the date for your specified venue or wedding vendors you really want to work with!

It will be a tough time for businesses, and individuals. Personally, from one perspective, even though I, as a business have been impacted greatly. From another perspective, I see this as a time to really spend more time on yourself, your family and what is really important to you. To me, the foundation of photography has always been about being able to have photographs that personally mean something to you. What are those stories you want to tell your kids, grandkids and families. What are those moments you want to remember?

Even though we have to keep ourselves 1.5m apart from each other. For the first time in my life, I feel as if this isolation has allowed us really to be brought back together as human beings, and to be more connected more than ever.

I am technically still open for business, as I can technically always keep 1.5m away from you with my humungous lens, but it doesn't mean we cannot have a chat to plan and find out what's important to you and what you'd love photographed!

I want to wish everyone to be safe and healthy, keep washing those hands, keep that 1.5m social distancing and let's work together to flatten that curve!

Wedding Photography

I love to photograph weddings, I treat every wedding differently, because every relationship is unique in its own way. And I love to find out what makes it special. I mean there is a reason why you knew for absolutely certainty you wanted to spend the rest of you life with your significant other right? As one of the most important wedding vendors (including the marriage celebrant and wedding venue) in your wedding, finding out what is important to you about your relationship and your wedding is only the first step to infusing those beautiful moments into your photographs.

Portrait Photography

Like weddings, I treat portrait photography just as seriously. For me, it doesn't really matter what genre of photography there is, there is a saying that most of us know, "a picture paints is worth a thousand words" - Fred R. Barnard. So I believe that every photograph has a story, and every story deserves to be told and celebrated. Whether it is for;

  • individuals that want a dating profile image, to celebrate their journey in life, or even be photographed in their favourite cosplays.
  • or couples that want to celebrate relationship and the journey they've accomplished to get to where they are right now,
  • a headshot that not only gives the first impression to clients but also conveys your mission statement of your business,
  • or perhaps a photo for your dating profile? It's important for first impressions right?
  • or a family session, where you get to celebrate the growing of your family and celebrate the uniqueness of each individual that creates your family identity.

I promise you, when you get a portrait session from me, I'll not only make you and your photographs look stunning but I'll also give you something that you love and cherish for lifetimes.

Event, Conference, Convention Photography

Event photography is actually one of the first jobs I ever landed. I originally came from a background of Medical Research (10 years experience) and I would occasionally attend many local and national medical conferences in Australia.

Along that journey I also started photographing those medical conferences as a way of being involved in the scientific community. I was very passionate about cancer research and one of the biggest problems I always found was the disconnect between research and the public.

I took it upon myself attempt to visually express the hard work and dedication our Australian researchers put into understanding the diseases that are prevalent in this day and age. As I said above, every story deserves to be told and celebrated, so taking photographs was my way of trying to build that connection through photographs, to show that the individuals who strive to research these diseases, are people as well.

I have covered events for a number of research institutes and societies including;

  • Australian Society for Medical Research (SA branch)
  • Australian and New Zealand Society for Immunology (SA Branch)
  • Australian Society for Biochemistry and Molecular Biology (SA Branch)
  • The Robinson Institute - Affiliated with the University of Adelaide
  • The South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute (SAHMRI)
  • The National Wine Centre

I have covered other events from other areas such as the pop-culture convention Oz Comic-Con, photographing talents and celebrities at their panel sessions. Other events include Anniversary cocktail evenings, workshops, birthdays and Melbourne Alternative Designers fashion events.
